Choosing a Location:

The first step in planning your Texas elopement is choosing a location. There are so many beautiful places to choose from in Texas, so this can be a tough decision. Do you want to exchange your vows surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of Big Bend National Park? Or perhaps you prefer the more urban setting of downtown Austin? Whatever your preference, there’s sure to be a perfect Texas location for you.

Pick Your Atmosphere for your Elopement

Once you’ve decided on a general location, it’s time to start narrowing down your options. If you’re looking for a specific type of scenery, such as mountains or beaches, that will help to narrow things down. From there, consider what kind of atmosphere you’re hoping to create. Are you looking for an intimate and private setting, or are you hoping to be surrounded by your closest family and friends? Texas has elopement locations to fit every type of couple.

Texas Elopements are some of the most beautiful in the world, let alone the United States. With so many amazing locations, it can be hard to choose where to have your elopement. Texas offers everything from city skyline views to beaches, mountain ranges, and more. You can even find locations that offer multiple settings in one!

Urban Options For Your Texas Elopement

Austin is full of different and unique city scapes.  From the upscale walks of Dallas, the retro vibe of Austin,  the riverwalk of San Antonio, or the Western town of the Stockyards in Fort Worth there are so many options to make your urban Texas elopement unique to the two of you and what you love.

Here is a short list of some of my favorites.

Austin‘s South Congress

Stockyards at Fort Worth

Port Aransas in Galveston

River Walk in San Antonio

When looking into urban locations, I love to recommend picking a general area to start and meandering through the day to some of your favorite and vibrant places.  We can include a time to toast in celebration, and grab some tasty bites to add to your day.

Hiking Elopements in Texas

Texas is home to some beautiful and surprising landscapes.  Eastern Texas offers troves of forests, while you can still escape to beaches of Galveston or Son’s Island.  Big Bend has sweeping views of canyons, and you can even dip your toes into the hot springs to relax your day away.

Here is a short list of some of my favorites in Texas, although there are so many unique places, which I love to narrow down with my couples after they have booked me for their Texas Elopement.

Palo Duro Canyon

Monahans SandHills State Park

Big Bend National Park

Boutique Hotels for Texas Elopements

A beautiful option I love to send to couples is the idea of a boutique hotel. This can be a great way to bring a little cozy vibes to your elopement day.  Starting with coffee by the pool, or cuddles by the fire to end the day is the perfect addition to your elopement day.

Not only are the photographs that come from these moments amazing memories, but also they add relaxation to your day.

Some I highly recommend are:

San Jose Hotel

The Willow House

El Cosmico

The Best Time of Year for Texas Elopements

Now that you’ve chosen a location, it’s time to start planning the details of your elopement. The first step is to decide on a date. When choosing a date, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, consider the weather. If you’re dreaming of exchanging your vows on a Texas beach, you’ll want to choose a date when the weather is warm enough for swimming. Spring and early fall are typically the best times to elope in Texas.

Sometimes I actually like to start with season.  The landscapes differ greatly depending on the time of year and if you are envisioning something like a winter wonderland, or warmly colored, or full of life and green then we need to start here and what locations show this feel best.

Texas Elopements Including Your Favorite People

Once you’ve chosen a date, it’s time to start thinking about your guest list. If you’re planning a small and intimate elopement, you may not need to invite many people. But if you’re hoping to have a larger gathering of family and friends, you’ll need to start making a list. When inviting guests, be sure to give them plenty of notice so they can make travel arrangements.

Logistics of Texas Elopements

Now that you’ve got the date and guest list sorted out, it’s time to start thinking about logistics. Where will everyone stay? How will they get around? What activities will there be for guests who are staying for more than just the ceremony? Texas has a lot to offer, so there’s sure to be something for everyone. Start planning early and you’ll be sure to have a smooth and stress-free elopement.

If you are out of state from Texas there are two options.  You can get married at the courthouse near you, so logistically you are all set there before coming to your elopement.  Or you can get a marriage license from the courthouse and have an ordained minister (oh shoot that I am as well) marry you on the spot 🙂

Either way you choose, your Texas elopement is always so special as it is a day to celebrate the two of you and the start of your adventure as a married couple.
