Why you ask? Because its a gem to stumble on, with gems in it to stumble upon. This canyon has caves and slots (if you know where to hike 😉 ) and offers a variety of scenery all in a canyon that seems practically tucked away in the north Texas area. For a Texas Elopement at Palo Duro Canyon State Park there are a few details you need to be aware of from weather alerts to trail tracking that I love guiding clients through.

That is right, even in Texas where the sun loves to shine, you have to watch the forecast especially in the canyon. There is a meter as you come in that lets you know what the UV rays are up to because they can be a force to be reckoned with. Even though it was winter, I was out hiking so much that my 50 spf from the morning didn’t last and I had a very adorable burn on my face haha. Please read with all sarcasm intended.
That being said, we encountered some rain as we started shooting. Growing up in Washington, I am not one to shy away from rain, mainly because I know it can create magic sometimes. And lord did it create some magic for these two.
Isn’t this rain crazy gorgeous!? We we’re so in awe and so excited to see the sun lighting up the rain, it almost looks like it is snowing (which it did the next evening!). These two, er I guess I should say four, really rocked working with me in the sprinkles to get some beautiful and unique photographs that personally are my favorite from the day.
