PNW Destination Wedding Doesn't Get Better than Hurricane Ridge
A Magical Hurricane Ridge Wedding – PNW Destination Wedding. Set up high in the amazing Olympic Mountains, Hurricane Ridge offers an overlook into the vast mountain tops surrounded by wildlife and woods. This stunning destination wedding became all the more magical as fog rolled in and out through the mountains as they said I do.
Nestled up in the mountains of the Olympic Peninsula in Northwest Washington, is a beautiful area known as Hurricane Ridge. Growing up, I actually was blessed to hike up into these mountains regularly and whether it was Summer or Winter, it was always breath taking.
So you can imagine my joy as the sweetest couple with the biggest heart sent me a message about having their wedding right up in those mountains, as they had become a big part of their story as well.
While the Pacific Northwest has many amazing options for a Destination Wedding, this sweet spot in the Olympic Mountain National Park is one of my favorite, and gave us a breathtaking view the whole way through their day.
The day started as most days do in Washington. Covered in Fog.
Granted, that is what makes the Pacific Northwest Weddings exactly what they are– full of mood and emotion.
Both David and Christine got ready in rooms at the the beautiful Olympic Lodge Hotel which set the stage with morning dew in the gardens outside of the room.
My
PNW Destination Wedding Details
My favorite thing about the getting ready moments is that it sets the stage for the day. The mindfullness as the two get ready to see each other and start a new chapter is sometimes met with peaceful quiet, and sometimes loud celebration.
Getting to know these two really proved the thought of how yin and yang go together so well. They both had a completely different approach to the morning and both beautiful in their own.
For David, there was great care in every detail that he brought out, each telling a story, and a memory of what all brought them to that day.
For Christine, her joy was contagious, as all she wanted was to go see David up top the Mountain for the First Look moment.
The fog on top of the mountain was so incredibly thick, we could hardly see a few feet in front of us at times. It was wild to know that hidden behind that was a valley and mountains, but it set the perfect scene for their first look and create an unimaginable feel of magic for their first look at their destination wedding.
Those First Look Feels
Having a first look is somewhat of a newer idea, and although the feathers of tradition might be ruffled by it, there is a reason it is so widely loved. It let’s you have the moment, when you first see each other, all dressed for your wedding, to really soak in the moment.
I like to let the couple really have a moment without interruption ( because lordy we all know that happens too much at weddings) so they can have that one on one attention, to embrace, laugh, cry, no eyes on them, and just be together.
And just like that, the clouds parted for a perfect PNW Wedding
The wild part about the mountains is that as the wind blows the view changes. Just as the ceremony was about to start, the wind blew all the fog away and for the entirety of the ceremony the Olympic Mountains were in full view.
The ceremony was perfect, illuminated by the guitar playing of their dear friend, and a Hungarian prayer by Christine’s father to end.
The Beauty of a PNW Destination Wedding
This Hurricane Ridge Wedding ended up absolutely perfect. With explosions of laughter and joy, the party came to a close with celebration.
Hurricane Ridge Wedding Success
Eventually we made our way down from Hurricane Ridge and celebrated at the Red Lion Hotel, but then ran right back up the hill to catch an epic Hurricane Ridge Wedding sunset, ending the day just right.
